The Weekly 7: Resilience

Here are seven truths I gained from the Character-in-Action story, “How Resilient Leaders Create Calm Under Pressure.” To read the full story, please click the link provided below.

  1. Leaders help teams interpret adversity in ways that strengthen identity and purpose.
  2. Ownership transforms people from passive victims of circumstances into active participants in solutions.
  3. Resilience involves adaptation, emotional regulation, and intelligent action—not merely “taking hits.”
  4. Resilience is knowing when to push, when to adapt, when to connect, and where intervention matters most.
  5. Resilience is not stoic endurance but the adaptive, culture‑shaping act of turning shared stress into shared purpose.
  6. Resilience reframes adversity through shared meaning and guides others toward purposeful action.
  7. Resilient cultures often use shared humour because it reinforces belonging, preserves dignity, and reminds people they are facing difficulty together.
